Degree and Certificate Programs

Vermont Technical College will be offering selected college programs, courses, and certificates starting in the Fall of 2003. These courses will be offered mornings, afternoons and evenings.

Licensed Practical Nursing

Responding to the critical demand for nurses, Vermont Tech will be offering the Certificate Program in Licensed Practical Nursing.  This is an  innovative program in which the Community College of Vermont offers Human Anatomy & Physiology I and II, Human Growth and Development, and Nutrition classes as prerequisites.  Those candidates who successfully complete these courses or are awarded transfer credit can apply to Vermont Tech for acceptance into the LPN Program.  Program completion will require 3 additional semesters totaling 33 credits of nursing course work.  The nursing  courses are broadcast on Vermont Interactive Television (VIT) with the clinical portion being conducted at local health care facilities.  Springfield is one of many sites in rural Vermont where this unique delivery of nursing education takes place.  Other locations include Newport, Morrisville, St. Albans, and White River Junction.  This program allows students flexibility in both attending and completing classes without having to travel long distances or relocating. www.vtc.vsc.edu

Management of Technology

Vermont Tech will also offer the Bachelor of Science in Management of Technology. The MOT curriculum is designed as a “2+2” program that builds on an associate degree in either engineering technology or applied science. The MOT curriculum provides for two tracks. The first year in the program provides students with separate tracks to allow the engineering tech students to gain foundation management skills and the applied science student to gain a solid foundation in managing technology. Both of these tracks then share a common second year where they receive additional advanced education in the traditional disciplines of management, with a strong emphasis on systems.
